The Dutch composer, Hans Kunneman, studied classical- as well as jazz music and teaches at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Alkmaar. His music is written 'from the heart' and is very useful in films, ballet or theater.

In 2008 Hans wrote 'Vind je bron', a book about how to integrate meditation in your daily life. In his method Music and meditation Hans discribes how to use meditationtechnics in making music.

Hans composed five musicals.

As a child Hans played the violin. When he was eleven he started to improvise on an old guitar of one of his brothers. Hans:

Hans with his son Dok and dog Spip
'This guitar had only three strings left, the rest was broken. It was funny that having very few strings led to the discovery of nice harmonies. At that time I already 'composed' songs with various chords.'

The love for harmony has always been a part of Hans' work...

'I've always been searching for rich musical colours.'

When Hans graduated in 1979 from the Conservatory of Amsterdam as a classical guitarist, he was also an experienced electric guitarist.

'I liked playing in a band because in that world it was normal to make and perform your own music. Studying jazz (Berklee College of Music in Boston) was a great training in directly translating and adding variation to my musical ideas. Since then, I've grown towards a more classical approach because of the rich nuances in this genre (orchestral).'

in 2001 Hans composed 12 songs with Lyrics from 'The Prophet' by Kahlil Gibran, for soprano, violin and guitar. In his music different styles are combined in a such a way that an attractive new concept arises, with a poetic atmosphere that perfectly fits the lyrics of Gibran.
